東京生まれ。
写真専門学校卒業後、イイノ・メディアプロにて約5年間のアシスタント経験を経て、25歳で独立しニューヨークへ渡る。
約8年間にわたりニューヨークを拠点に、ファッション、ポートレート、広告写真を中心に活動。作品は『Vogue Italia』『Schön! Magazine』などの海外メディアに掲載され、現地で個展も開催。
2020年に帰国後、東京を拠点にファッション、広告、アーティスト、役者のポートレートなど幅広い撮影を手がける。
商業写真と並行して、光や時間、知覚をテーマとした作品制作にも取り組んでいる。
Born in Tokyo, Japan.
After graduating from photography school, Hayato Sakurai spent five years working as a photography assistant at Iino Mediapro before beginning his independent career in New York at the age of 25.
During his eight years in New York, he worked across fashion, portraiture, and advertising. His work has been featured in international publications including Vogue Italia and Schön! Magazine, and he has held solo exhibitions in New York.
In 2021, he returned to Tokyo, where he continues to work in fashion, advertising, and portrait photography.
Alongside his commercial work, he develops personal projects exploring light, time, and perception.
